The Columbus neighborhood is located in East Bloomington just southeast of the intersection of Nicolott and 102nd Street. The neighborhood is one of the largest in the city consisting of 200 single family homes ranging from $200,000 to $400,000 in price. House styles in Columbus are primarily a mix of ranches and split levels.

 

The nearest amenity available to residents of Columbus is Gene Kelly Playfields, which is situated within the neighborhood itself. Valley View Playfield in Bloomington, MinnesotaThe park has numerous recreational amenities such as baseball fields, soccer fields, a hockey rink, and tennis courts. Other nearby parks include Soltvedt Memorial Beach and Mound Springs Park. The nearest shopping center to Columbus is  Clover Center on 98th Street. The Bloomington Public School District serves the entire city of Bloomington since 1917, with several of its school winning BlueJohn F. Kennedy High School in Bloomington, Minnesota Ribbon Schools of Excellence and Minnesota School Excellence designations. The nearest school to the Columbus neighborhood is Kennedy High School. Kennedy High School serves 1,500 students and has a student/teacher ratio of 18.5. The school has an excellent teaching staff, with 72% of its teachers maintaining Master’s Degrees. Other schools in the area include Indian Mounds Elementary and Oak Grove Middle School.
